Talk Like TED Book Review: Boston Globe online.

“How Schools Kill Creativity” by Sir Ken Robinson is the most viewed TED talk of all time. Communications coach Carmine Gallo studied the 500 best 18-minute TED talks and interviewed the most popular TED speakers and the leading persuasion and communication researchers to produce “Talk Like TED: The 9 Public-Speaking Secrets of the World’s Top Minds” (St. Martin’s). In this chatty yes-you-can book, great speakers tell stories that elaborate on the lessons Gallo has distilled. He notes that authenticity doesn’t happen naturally; it requires hours of work. Just ask Amanda Palmer, who credited the 105 people who helped her develop what was the most-talked-about presentation at TED 2013. JAN GARDNER
